Packing 10 tracks into 26 breathless minutes, The Dog You Feed channels the anxiety, frustration and restless momentum at the heart of Hyper Minds. Relentless choruses, rapid-fire vocals and sharp-edged guitars collide in a fast, aggressive collection created to empower listeners, offer connection and provide a release for anyone who needs to blow off some steam.“The Dog You Feed is an album that champions the people that feel it’s hard to stick up for themselves, those that struggle to feel seen or heard and those that are battling silent struggles,” says vocalist and guitarist Roland O’Cello. “Throughout my life, it’s been a huge challenge for me to feel seen and heard. I always felt like an outsider. At a certain point, I grew tired of not feeling understood and realized that music may be my best outlet to express my feelings—and hopefully someone would listen.”O’Cello continues, “The Dog You Feed is an album that I hope finds the people that need it or can benefit from its expressions, both lyrically and musically. It’s a fast-paced, aggressive collection of songs that are meant to empower and pump up those who feel they need it or want to blow off some steam.”

The album includes “Sink or Swim,” a frantic anthem inspired by moments when there is no choice but to confront the challenge directly.“‘Sink or Swim’ comes from moments in life that require you to jump in the fire or get thrown in the fire, where there’s no option but to sink or swim,” O’Cello explains. “You either succeed and get through, or you don’t.”Formed in 2024, Hyper Minds play loud, fast and hard-hitting garage punk influenced by The Hives, Osees, Ramones and The Spits. The band has quickly established itself within the Los Angeles underground through shows at Permanent Records Roadhouse, Alex’s Bar and Gold-Diggers, along with airplay on KEXP and a live session for Los Angeles station 88.9 KXLU.The lineup features Roland O’Cello on guitar and vocals, Juan Rodriguez on bass, Omar Gutierrez on drums and Robert Canales on lead guitar. Together, they make music for restless bodies and overactive brains—the soundtrack to late nights, racing thoughts and the feeling that standing still simply isn’t an option.

“We gave everything we possibly had in the tank to get this album right, and after nearly two years of relentless dedication to the project, we are insanely proud to call The Dog You Feed our first full-length album,”O’Cello adds. “We hope you enjoy it!”Hyper Minds will bring the album to stages throughout Los Angeles over the coming weeks, beginning with Fight to Unite, presented by Punk Rock Bowling, at The Belasco on October 9.UPCOMING SHOWSOctober 9 — The Belasco — Los Angeles, CA
