The song is the third single shared thus far from the Texas-based artist’s forthcoming album, VOL.3, which tells the story of a powerful romance as it evolves over time. Listen to “evil eye,” released by Capitol Records HERE, and watch the visualizer HERE. The single arrives shortly after Novulent’s announcement that they will be opening for Violent Vira’s Chasing Ghosts North American Tour on a run of dates, kicking off July 15, before embarking on their own headlining BEFORE VOL.3 TOUR on September 30, which will include an October 3 stop at Furnace Festival in Birmingham, Alabama. Their lyrics move fluidly between the visceral and the supernatural, underscoring the inescapable, larger-than-life attraction between the song’s subjects: “Rising through my grave, so I don’t get replaced / Don’t be scared, ignore my evil eyes / The day has come when I can taste you again.” “Building off of the story I’ve been laying out for VOL.3,” says Novulent, “‘evil eye’ is about the unapologetic and euphoric feeling you get when you’re back with that specific person who ruined you — like a forbidden love, it’s that rush you get knowing it’s so wrong but it feels so right.” Novulent’s latest follows the lead single new low,”a bittersweet dream-pop confection that landed on Alternative Press “A-sides: 10 songs you need to hear” while inspiring kind words from Pop Cultr: “The track takes listeners on a raw journey through the emotional complexities of staying in a toxic relationship […] Novulent blends hard rock, shoegaze, and emo influences seamlessly in ‘new low,’ drawing inspiration from their personal experiences with heartbreak and emotional turmoil.” Then came rip,” a dynamic track with velvety vocals that weighs the possibilities of new love against the pull of the past. Drawing inspiration from early 2000s films like Thirteen and All About Lily Chou-Chou — which explore dark themes against a coming-of-age backdrop — VOL.3 is the latest in a series of reflective albums. VOL.1 found Novulentprocessing back-to-back breakups that completely shattered their worldview — it also contained the breakout cut scars,” which has amassed over 146 million streams on Spotify alone. Last year brought VOL.2, a cathartic one-on-one talk between Novulent and their past self that launched the smash hit soul ties,” which has over 1.5 million streams globally and sits at a consistent 20k streams a week in the U.S.  At 20 years old, Novulent recently wrapped up their first-ever headline tour with a show at New York City’s Mercury Lounge, which The Concert Chronicles praised as “gritty yet glistening, [highlighting] a sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.” Catch Novulent live to witness their vision unfold in real time. Novulent Tour DatesJul 16 – Bakersfield, CA @ The Nile TheaterJul 17 – Las Vegas, NV @ Backstage Bar & BilliardsJul 19 – Tucson, AZ @ EncoreJul 21 – Albuquerque, NM @ El Rey TheaterJul 22 – El Paso, TX @ The Lowbrow PalaceJul 23 – Vibes Event Center @ Vibes Event CenterSep 30 – Miami, FL @ GrampsOct 1 – Tampa, FL @ CrowbarOct 3 – Princeton, AL @ Furnace Fest 2025Oct 4 – Atlanta, GA @ Center StageOct 5 – Carrboro, NC @ Cat’s CradleOct 7 – Charlotte, NC @ Visulite TheatreOct 9 – Philadelphia, PA @ Ukie ClubOct 10 – Washington, DC @ DC9Oct 11 – Somerville, MA @ The RockwellOct 13 – Toronto, ON @ Velvet Underground
