The Bomb Voyage…, will arrive September 18 via InnaNuttshell Reekordingz, the label founded by former Fishbone bassist and co-founder Norwood Fisher.Raw, technical, and relentlessly charged, “Animals” captures Mad Tab’s volatile combination of SoCal punk urgency, intricate musicianship, dual lead vocals, analog synth textures, and four-part harmonies. The track offers another look at a band that has spent nearly two decades developing a sound that is aggressive, unpredictable, and difficult to neatly categorize.Formed in 2006 in the South Orange County underground, Mad Tab built its reputation through house parties, bowling alley shows that erupted into riots, abrupt shutdowns, lineup changes, and extended periods of silence. Along the way, the band explored reggae, rocksteady, and ska before returning to the punk foundation it had never stopped writing toward.Today, founding members Dave Tab and Graham “Gram Tab,” alongside Scott Beattieand drummer Rob Wheeler, operate with the kind of chemistry that can only come from nearly two decades of shared history. Their sound lands somewhere between Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Turnstile, with flashes of Rancid and The Hives, while retaining a character entirely its own.Keys and analog synth are woven directly into the group’s music—not as embellishment, but as propulsion—adding grit, depth, and texture rarely heard in punk.
