Check out our exclusive interview with Jamie James.

R&B Rhythms is here with Jamie James, how’s it going?

Quite well, if you don’t look too closely.

You just recently dropped your new album entitled Straight Up. Tell me a little bit about how the album came together for you.

It was a combination of things;  In 2020, after a life saving open heart surgery (quadruple bypass) I started to focus on writing new songs and playing harmonica. Also, I had the pleasure of playing with same four guys, Tom Walsh-drums, Ken Stage-keyboards and Tom Mancillas-bas for about eighteen years in a band called Dennis Quaid and The Sharks and when that came to an end I didn’t want to waste all of the experience we had together so I tried to write songs that would also be a fun vehicle for the guys.

Do you have any more upcoming videos or singles?

Not currently scheduled but I do have several new songs I would love to record.

What are your current thoughts on the music industry?

I’m not even really sure what the term “music industry” defines. I know that for me, the process of of everything from recording to listening and everything in between seems different from when my first record The Kingbees came out on RSO Records in 1980. The one thing that has not changed is the love, heart and soul we all have for music!

What is currently playing on your playlist musically?

Mose Allison, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sly and The Family Stone, Spirit, Barbara Lynn, Skeeter Davis and so many, many more.

Do you have any shows or tour dates?

Not schedules at this time.

What is your website information?

Oglio.com
