Braxton Cook ‘My Everything’:https://braxtoncook.ffm.to/wevecomesofar March 21, 2024 – Today, award-winning, Juilliard-trained singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Braxton Cook makes his triumphant return with a new song, “We’ve Come So Far.” The heavenly track was first heard on his latest NPR Tiny Desk Concert, which dropped last month, and it marks a turning point for Braxton musically and personally. Braxton continues to prove his versatility, blending jazz, R&B, and neo-soul in this airy, groovy melody while honestly reflecting on life’s accomplishments and failures equally. He trades his saxophone for a moody electric guitar that chugs under mesmerizing harmony vocals.  Braxton explains, “This song is about gratitude, taking stock of all the blessings we have and seeing how far we’ve come in life. It signifies a shift sonically… It’s also in a brighter key of D major, and it has this simple but effective groove that feels like a lift. While I do speak to the problems of the world, as well as some of my personal stresses and anxieties during the verses and pre-choruses of the song, the chorus of this track is a reminder of how far we’ve come in life.” “We’ve Come So Far” marks a meaningful step for one of the generation’s most exciting voices. Upon debuting the song for NPR’s Tiny Desk, producer Ashley Pointer remarked how Braxton “radiated a palpable sense of gratitude.” The song follows his four-song EP My Everythingreleased in November 2024, and hints at more music on the horizon. Catch Braxton Cook and his captivating live band at the San Francisco Jazz Festival this June, along with more tour dates to be announced soon!WATCH & SHARE BRAXTON COOK’S NPR TINY DESK CONCERT:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7OtKIZE7tE

With a blend of jazz, soul, and alt-R&B, he has carved out a unique, melodic sound that has made him one of the most exciting voices of his generation. Raised in Maryland, Braxton studied saxophone under the renowned Paul Carr before attending Georgetown University and later transferring to The Juilliard School. By 18, he was already performing in iconic D.C. jazz venues, and soon after, he became a regular member of trumpeter Christian Scott’s band, gaining exposure on several of his albums. He also toured and performed with Christian McBride Big Band, Tom Misch, andMarquis Hill. During this time, Braxton was selected as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.Braxton’s solo career took off with the release of his debut EP Sketch and the subsequent album Somewhere In Between, which earned widespread acclaim and millions of streams. He has performed on major stages around the world, from Coachella to international jazz festivals, and collaborated with GRAMMY-winning artists like RihannaSolange, and Jon Batiste, performing on his soundtrack for Pixar’s Oscar-winning film, Soul. The album garnered critical acclaim from outlets like BillboardBETNPR MusicFORBES, and The Washington Post, cementing Braxton as both a “jazz marvel” and a cultural influencer shaping modern music.Last year, Braxton returned with My Everything. These four beautifully composed tracks present us with a dynamic, spiritually uplifting reflection on hope, family, and the things that give our lives meaning. That isn’t to say they aren’t without tension. Cook spends time ruminating on his highs and lows, perhaps paying extra attention to the darker moments to truly find gratitude somewhere in the middle.Thematically, My Everything brings us up to speed with where Cook is as a person. We get a firsthand look at how Cook navigates the triumphs and trials of family life. The spiritual heart of the project, the title track, finds Cook delving into the confusion and strife that come along with life’s growing pains.“I really hope that people can connect with the record and that they can better connect with me personally. This project speaks to the importance of having faith in the midst of adversity and having belief that when times are tough, things will ultimately turn around for the better.
