TEA EATER DELIVERS CLASSIC HEARTBREAKER FROM THE EX YOU LOVE TO HATE ON NEW VIDEO SINGLE ‘CECILIA’ STREAM // DOWNLOAD “Mastermind Tarra Thiessen does not fail to expose her vocal timbre and her DIY will.”– Rolling Stone France“The Brooklyn-based solo effort of Tarra Thiessen creates without restraint, her songs feel primal and swaggering.”– Post-Trash |
BROOKLYN, NY – March 7th, 2025 – Grit and ferocity know no bounds with Brooklyn’s favorite weirdo art-punk band, Tea Eater. Today, the band – which is pioneered by frontwoman Tarra Thiessen – delivered their latest gristly DIY music video and single in “Cecilia.” Premiering today on Music Mecca, the music video — which was shot by Viviane Black on a DV camcorder — depicts a series of obscure yet inviting vignettes somewhere in the desert sands of Joshua Tree, featuring hot tubs, wine, and over-sized dominoes. The track itself kicks off with a familiar fuzzed-out punk rhythm that one might expect to hear Glenn Danzig sing over in his Misfits days. But in a delightful twist of fate, Thiessen’s voice delivers more of a Kim Gordon Sonic Youth style vocal. “How long have we been playin?” she sings in washed-out reverb before the song explodes like a cherry bomb. “Cecilia is a classic heartbreaker,” Thiessen states. “She is the other woman (or ex-girlfriend) that you can’t seem to get away from. People love to talk shit about her, but in reality she’s a necessary part in those who vilify her story. Without her, they wouldn’t have anyone to talk about or project their own dark parts and patterns onto.” The new single and music video follows Tea Eater’s February single, “Little White Dog (In a Gated Community).” Both of which are featured on their forthcoming album, I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck (private listening link), which is due out March 28th, 2025. The album tells the story of a hotline psychic who’s sick of everyone — including herself. In this sophomore release, the DIY band expands their obsessions to include waffles, bugs, and butter. I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck explores what it means to be the villain in someone else’s story — whether by accident or design. With fuzzy hooks and a sense of humor, Tea Eater re-contextualizes messy experiences, showing how even the most chaotic holes we fall into can lead to the best possible outcomes. In addition to the vinyl release, a limited-edition tarot deck – inspired by the album’s themes and Tea Eater’s symbol sets – will be available. The deck, which features reimagined versions of traditional tarot suits such as waffles for pentacles and bugs for swords, allows for further exploration into the album’s surreal, introspective journey, and Thiessen’s own personal mythology. I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck will be released via A Diamond Heart Production, Amethyst Trax, and La Fam Recordings. Tea Eater has their album release show at Alphaville in Brooklyn on Thiessen’s birthday and the day it drops, March 28th, 2025. STREAM “CECILIA”Spotify || Amazon Music || YouTube |
