OMAHA, NE — Some bands spend decades chasing the perfect recording. Ogden Edsl accidentally misplaced dozens of them.More than fifty years after the legendary music and comedy collective first began documenting its gloriously unconventional live performances, a remarkable collection of long-lost recordings has resurfaced and is finally being released as The Lost Tapes, an ongoing archival series from Oglio Entertainment.Formed in Omaha in 1971, The Ogden Edsl Wahalia Blues Ensemble Mondo Bizzario Band built a devoted cult following through a one-of-a-kind blend of music, satire, improvisation, and absurdist comedy. Throughout the ’70s and beyond, the group toured relentlessly, performing everywhere from clubs and concert halls to radio stations, television programs, Air Force bases, festivals, birthday parties, and just about any stage willing to embrace their wonderfully unpredictable act.Over the years, the band’s lineup expanded and contracted, musical styles shifted, and countless performances were recorded. But as often happens with working bands, many of those tapes eventually disappeared—lost in closets, attics, storage rooms, and the passage of time. That changed with an unexpected discovery.A few years ago, the band’s original mentor and financial backer, Wade Wright—a former pinball arcade owner and longtime record store figure in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district—was clearing out the basement of his record store when he uncovered a forgotten box containing recordings from a two-week Ogden Edsl engagement in Omaha.Remarkably, the tapes had survived.“It was like finding a fine old wine with the cork still in the bottle,” recalls guitarist and vocalist Bill Carey. The recordings capture one of Ogden Edsl’s most beloved lineups, featuring Bill Carey (guitar, vocals), Richie Thieman (bass), Bill Frenzer (vocals, harmonica), Bob Ganey (drums), and special guest pianist Steven Stucker, best known for his unforgettable performance in the comedy classic Airplane!.Working alongside Carl Caprioglio, President of Oglio Entertainment, the band carefully restored and curated the recordings into an ongoing digital series showcasing the group’s singular mix of sharp musicianship, irreverent storytelling, and brilliantly offbeat humor.Ogden Edsl’s reputation was built in part through frequent airplay on the legendary Dr. Demento radio show, where cult favorites including “Dead Puppies,” “Kinko the Clown,” and “Daddy’s Money” introduced generations of listeners to the band’s unique brand of comedy rock long before the internet made cult classics instantly shareable. The Lost Tapes launched in May and continues with a brand-new digital release recurring through the end of 2026.Released So Far”Fish People” (May 15)”Dead Willie” (May 22)”Caveman” (May 29)”Regular Guy” (June 5)”Cornhusker Highway” (June 12)”Young and Moist” (June 19)”Metal Detector” (June 26)”Ballad of Kenny and Marsha” (July 3)”Zippy the Hog” (July 10)More releases from the archive are scheduled throughout the remainder of the year, offering fans an unprecedented look back at one of underground music’s most inventive and enduring cult acts.More than five decades after these performances were first capturedThe Lost Tapes prove that great comedy—and great music—never really goes out of style.Listen to Ogden Edsl:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4fY3VA3Qjus5t2sxkAXv8lApple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/ogden-edsl/14355600
