Boston, MA — Emo torchbearers Bicycle Inn return with their new single “Longsword (4th Place),” now available on all streaming platforms. The track marks the band’s first new release since their acclaimed sophomore EP Baldr the Beautiful is Dead, is Dead (2022), and signals a bold new chapter for the Boston quintet.Formed in January 2016, Bicycle Inn blends warm melancholy with a modern, alternative take on traditional emo. The band is comprised of Declan Moloney(bass), Noah Aguiar (guitar/vocals), Dylan Ilkowitz (guitar/auxiliary vocals), Gilmar Perez(lead guitar), and Josh Giaquinto(percussion). With Ilkowitz returning and Perez and Giaquinto making their recorded debut, “Longsword (4th Place)” is the first time Bicycle Inn has recorded as a five-piece—ushering in a fuller, more dynamic sound.“Longsword is about the struggle of mundanity; doing just enough, scraping by and ‘making the cut.’ It embodies the moment of realization in which it is no longer sustainable to keep doing what you are doing, because it is actively disintegrating you. You have become this ‘Saint of the Rut;’ a perfect representation of stagnancy,” says the band. The single also features guest vocals from Ryan O’Rourke (Innerlove.), adding another emotional layer to Bicycle Inn’s already textured sound. Recorded over two sessions in 2023 and 2024 with Gary Cioni (Soundacres Studio), the track captures both the heavier dynamics explored on Baldrand a sense of forward motion that reflects the band’s ongoing evolution. With past performances alongside Mike Kinsella (Owen), Crime in Stereo, The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, The Obsessives, Ben Quad, Taking Meds, and more, Bicycle Inn have carved out their place in the indie/emo scene through heartfelt, resonant performances and unflinching songwriting.Stream “Longsword (4th Place)” here: https://open.spotify.com/track/6R0G3pOZjcWd0Z5XmzN485 |
